How to Get a Temporary Driving Permit

A purely administrative process — no medical exam, no driving test. Three steps at the VMO, typically completed within one week.

Required Documents

Three document groups are required. Prepare all items before visiting the VMO — incomplete submissions will not be processed.

1. Valid Passport and Short-Term Visa

• • Valid Passport (Original) — Must be valid for the full intended stay; photocopies and digital versions not accepted.
  • Short-Term Chinese Visa — One of the following categories:
    • L visa — Tourist / Leisure
    • M visa — Commercial / Trade Activities
